Women during World War 2 had to join the work force. The did men's jobs like: lumberjacks, blast furnace operators, blacksmiths, doctors, chemists, and lawyers. Black women had better jobs and were able to work more.

There was a lot of racial segregation in this war. There was less discrimination than World War 1. Philip Randolph fought for racial equality. Blacks moved to the cities to work in factories just like they did in World War 1.

Japanese Americans during World War 2
Japanese Americans were interned. 11,000 were rounded up. They sold their homes, closed businesses, they were put into camps, they had no evidence of guilt, and they were released in 1944. 1200 of the Japanese Americans fought for the United States in World War 2.
